The first entry-level accreditation offered.  The criteria within this level illustrate the company’s initial interest in adopting the triple bottom line approach. These initial criteria introduce the framework for responsible management and policy development, as well as prepare the member to plan and monitor their overall impact. This initial step plants the seed  for a responsible business future.

The semi-permanent camp consists of nine traditional safari tents with proper wood frame beds, ensuite toilet, shower and wash stand. Suitable for single, double or twin. The camp has stunning views of Kilimanjaro and offers a unique opportunity to camp in style within the park’s montane forest.The camp offers great access to spectacular and varied day hikes that weave through the forest and gorges to Maio waterfalls, a spiritual place for local Meru tribe.Itikoni is also the perfect way to start a Kilimanjaro expedition as sleeping at altitude will greatly aid acclimatization. The camp is 100% solar, has been developed with the environment in mind and proudly RTTZ SEED certified.

HODI-HODI-logo-blue-on-white-webHODI HODI Zanzibar Beach Houses is new property lies on the Matemwe Beach in Zanzibar .’Hodi Hodi’ is the traditional Swahili greeting when arriving as a guest at the house of a friend.  The answer is always Welcome – ‘Karibu’.  The property is owned by Julia Bishop, the creator and manager, East African born and raised, and long-time supporter of sustainable tourism.

The HODI HODI philosophy is about responsible tourism and providing an authentic and sustainable experience. We buy locally and we reduce and recycle. Our waste is collected by donkey cart. We use water and power with care. We leave shells on the beach, and try to make a very light, bare footprint. Our food has inspirations from Spain, India and the Middle East, but is all sourced from the islands, and set in a pallet of Zanzibari spices. HODI HODI supports various community projects and adheres to Responsible Tourism Tanzania standards and criteria. All our staff and suppliers are from the nearby village of Kilima Juu and the small primary school receives learning gifts from our guests. We dress demurely in the village and towns in respect of the local Muslim traditions

The Maasai inspired lounge and large mess tent both incorporate eco-briquette burning heaters to combat the chilly early mornings and evenings. Misigio Camp is close enough to the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater to be convenient for game drives but far enough to add that element of exclusivity, located approximately 14kms away from the hustle of the rim. A long standing partnership with the local Chief means that we can offer great cultural activities from camp including walks, fly-camping, boma visits and cultural activities. The camp is 100% solar, has been developed with the environment in mind and proudly RTTZ SEED certified.

 

logo-finLake Natron Camp rebuilt and with new owners in August 2014, this 10 tent luxury camp is set in a dramatic location near to Lake Natron, with unfettered views for 360 degrees. It is set in a conservation area of 1km radius around the camp, guaranteeing exclusivity and wilderness. The Natural springs in front of the dining / lounge tent provide year round supply of water and has a number of natural swimming pools complete with relaxation zones with shade netting.
The camp has been designed to be extremely eco friendly – all structures are removeable and we have strict policies governing everything from water management to staff and community relations. The guests tents have plenty of netting to allow for the free flow of air and also have mosquito netting. Each tent can be converted into a quad family room when needed. All main activities are included in the price of the stay. Activities include bird walks and flamingo watching, visiting the hominid footprints, waterfalls visits and a plethora of treks.

 

ndarakwai campNdarakwai  Camp takes both community and conservation issues very seriously the main emphasis being anti poaching, education and employment. We pay close attention to our impact on neighboring communities. Ndarakwai Camp was built by, and is staffed by people from the local villages. Materials, such as canvas for tents, poles for construction, and grass for thatching, were obtained locally, and all of the tents were made on site. The bar in the dining area was made from non indigenous dead Eucalyptus found on the property, and the two clay fireplaces were made by local Masai women.We strive to be the most sustainable and environmentally friendly camp in Tanzania. Every choice we make is important and needs to be considered carefully; achieving goals on one aspect of camp is only worthwhile if we aren’t damaging other aspects

 

Tarangire Safari lodgeTarangire Safari Lodge is situated on a panoramic bluff in Tarangire National Park, with one of Tanzania’s most spectacular views, encompassing acacias and baobabs, plentiful wildlife and the Tarangire river. The lodge was the first to be built in the park. Since 1985, it has been owned and managed by the Simonson family, who has added a very personal touch.Our main facilities, including three tents, are wheelchair accessible. Accommodation choices are either a traditional canvas tent or a roomy stone bungalow, with all rooms having a direct valley view.

The Blue Oyster is a small family-style hotel, directly adjacent to the white sandy beach of Jambiani. We are situated in a small traditional fishing village and put strong emphasis on working together with the local community.  Our 15 rooms are equipped with traditional Zanzibar style furniture using local materials, also we use solar power for hot water.Our rooms have fans but no air condition. Furthermore we have no swimming pool
