The HODI HODI philosophy is about responsible tourism and providing an authentic and sustainable experience. We buy locally and we reduce and recycle. Our waste is collected by donkey cart. We use water and power with care. We leave shells on the beach, and try to make a very light, bare footprint. Our food has inspirations from Spain, India and the Middle East, but is all sourced from the islands, and set in a pallet of Zanzibari spices. HODI HODI supports various community projects and adheres to Responsible Tourism Tanzania standards and criteria. All our staff and suppliers are from the nearby village of Kilima Juu and the small primary school receives learning gifts from our guests. Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp, one of the most desired of the luxury camps in Northern Tanzania where the popular Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Manyara game reserves are located. Misigio Camp is located in Maasai country, within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lake Natron Camp rebuilt and with new owners in August 2014, this 10 tent luxury camp is set in a dramatic location near to Lake Natron, with unfettered views for 360 degrees. It is set in a conservation area of 1km radius around the camp, guaranteeing exclusivity and wilderness. The Natural springs in front of the dining / lounge tent provide year round supply of water and has a number of natural swimming pools complete with relaxation zones with shade netting.
The camp has been designed to be extremely eco friendly – all structures are removeable and we have strict policies governing everything from water management to staff and community relations. The guests tents have plenty of netting to allow for the free flow of air and also have mosquito netting. Each tent can be converted into a quad family room when needed. All main activities are included in the price of the stay. Activities include bird walks and flamingo watching, visiting the hominid footprints, waterfalls visits and a plethora of treks.
Ndarakwai Camp takes both community and conservation issues very seriously the main emphasis being anti poaching, education and employment. We pay close attention to our impact on neighboring communities. Ndarakwai Camp was built by, and is staffed by people from the local villages. Materials, such as canvas for tents, poles for construction, and grass for thatching, were obtained locally, and all of the tents were made on site. The bar in the dining area was made from non indigenous dead Eucalyptus found on the property, and the two clay fireplaces were made by local Masai women.We strive to be the most sustainable and environmentally friendly camp in Tanzania. Every choice we make is important and needs to be considered carefully; achieving goals on one aspect of camp is only worthwhile if we aren’t damaging other aspects
Tarangire Safari Lodge is situated on a panoramic bluff in Tarangire National Park, with one of Tanzania’s most spectacular views, encompassing acacias and baobabs, plentiful wildlife and the Tarangire river. The lodge was the first to be built in the park. Since 1985, it has been owned and managed by the Simonson family, who has added a very personal touch.Our main facilities, including three tents, are wheelchair accessible. Accommodation choices are either a traditional canvas tent or a roomy stone bungalow, with all rooms having a direct valley view.
